Allisson Meriane Yavo – Interview

“Let’s begin with the introductions ?”

Yavo Adjo Allisson Mériane, 25 years old, I am an auditor and management controller by training and an internal controller by profession. Initiator of the « one month = one book » book club, I am gradually setting up « the house of the self-publisher ». I am a Christian, a lover of reading and volunteering.
“Why did you launch the « one month = one book » initiative ?”
Basically, to help raise the language level of young people.
The idea came to me during a job interview where a candidate was refused because “he had an Ivorian accent”. The reason was not acceptable to me because I have the same accent. Thinking about it, I thought more about the level of expression. This seemed more acceptable and valid to me given the position to be filled which, for the most part, consisted of conversing with customers (customer advisor). My solution : set up a book club.
“You are the head of another initiative, « the house of the self-publisher ». Can you tell us more ?”
The house of the self-publisher is a project born from the one month=one book initiative. During my adventure with the club, I noticed that there are two types of writers. Those from publishing houses and those who manage the work themselves. The first group obviously benefits from support, while the second does not. With a view to participating in the development of the book sector and making it fair, I decided to set up a support service for self-publishers.
“What were your main difficulties in each of these projects ?”
For both, I would say that the main difficulty was getting started.
For me, this is where the difficulty lies because until we start, we will never know the real challenges that await us. With all the questions we can ask ourselves, the fear of failing, of getting started, if all this has been exceeded, the biggest step has been taken.
“Where can we follow the progress of your projects?”
We are on Facebook at the moment.
“What are your next steps? In the short, medium and long term”
With one month=one book, develop our activities and why not be an organization that aims to raise the level of expression of young people, which promotes the book, the writer. At this stage, deploy in the countries of the sub-region and be a reference.
With the house of the self-publisher, to position ourselves in Ivory Coast, to deploy in a second time in the countries of the sub-region because there is the same problem there, then in the others, to be a reference.
“Your greatest success / pride of the moment ?”
To have started and held until then. Glory belongs to GOD because it is not easy, but if I have to be proud, it is to talk about these initiatives.
“What are/were your sources of inspiration ?”
Books. At each of the ideas, I was in the middle of reading an autobiographical book, in particular “Becoming” by Michele Obama and “I had all the excuses” by Steve Hounpkonou. They created the click.
“Why this collaboration with Mian Media?”
Nothing being done by chance, I was looking for media for partnership well before its official release and I spoke about it with the person in charge. We have agreed to this partnership because our actions fall within the vision of the media.
“What appealed to you the most?”
The presentation, structuring and quality of the work it provides.
“Your final word?”
I would like to thank Mian Media for the interest in my person. I hope that our collaboration will be fruitful.
If you have read me, do not hesitate to follow us, write to us if you have any questions, suggestions or other.
May GOD bless us.
