The rise of Afro-Urban music

A particularity of the African continent lies in its cultural diversity. Dances, traditions, myths and rites, rhythms, languages ​​and artistic values ​​make this continent one of the most dynamic.

A variety of styles, talents are becoming known day by day and of all ages.

The music of each African country presents a particular characteristic according to the generations. We have noticed, for several years, a significant rise in musical styles that value Africa in the world.

If hip hop culture, strongly influenced by Afro-American populations, is considered the main urban culture, it is because it was with its advent in the 1970s that we began to talk about urban music, or urban culture. Thus, its progressive expansion in the rest of the world has made it possible to popularize these expressions.

By urban music, we most often mean rap, rnb and hip hop, dirty, trap, neo-groove, reggae, funk and modern jazz…

It should be noted, however, that we are gradually tending towards a globalized interbreeding where it will soon be difficult to separate Afro music from each other, in particular because of permanent borrowings from neighboring cultures. We could witness a proliferation of experimental music hitherto unnamed.
